What to know about
chiropractic care:
Chiropractic care, supported by massage therapy, helps musculoskeletal and nervous system operate in an ideal environment.
Chiropractic care creates an ideal environment for your body, or your animal’s, to function in by addressing muscle and joint dysfunction.
Even minor interference, like the weight of a feather, can reduce nerve function by 50%, affecting the tissues those nerves supply. Since nerves communicate with every organ and tissue, it creates problems and discomfort when those nerves don’t have the right environment to operate in.
By reducing nerve interference through chiropractic care, I optimize the nervous and musculoskeletal systems, allowing your body to function smoothly and effectively.
It is not just about chiropractic care, massage therapy and therapeutic exercises make your chiropractic care more effective and last longer.
Achieving proper alignment involves more than just chiropractic adjustments, it requires addressing soft tissue and fascia as well. Muscles and connective tissue play a key role in moving bones and joints, so without soft tissue work, chiropractic care alone may not be as effective.
If you or your animal have tight muscles in an area prior to chiropractic treatment, those things can limit the benefits of an adjustment, causing the body to revert to its pre-adjustment state more quickly. That's why I incorporate massage therapy and therapeutic exercises to address muscle dysfunction.
By working on the soft tissue, I ensure that adjustments hold longer and contribute to better overall alignment and movement.
The root cause of your pain or dysfunction needs to be identified and treated, or you’re only treating the symptoms and will always need care.
Through a Functional Movement Assessment, I identify and address the root cause of pain and dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system, rather than just putting a bandaid on your symptoms. I will also educate you about your condition and provide tools for therapeutic exercises you can do at home, empowering you to take control of your health.
Restricted joints can cause pain and limit daily activities, while overcompensating muscles may lead to injury or discomfort. By treating the cause of your neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction we help reduce pain and restore proper movement with the goal of resolving your pain or dysfunction so you don’t need ongoing treatments.
“Wow, what a difference that adjustment made.”
Hi, I’m Dr. Cara!
My journey into chiropractic care began in high school when an automotive accident left me with debilitating lower back pain that affected both my work and daily activities. It was difficult to imagine life without riding horses, so I pursued treatment from a local chiropractor that changed everything.
With consistent care, I returned to my normal lifestyle and enjoyed my hobbies pain-free. This transformative experience, along with the encouragement from a good friend, ignited my passion for chiropractic care.
I have been an animal enthusiast since childhood, starting my equestrian journey at just six years old on my aunt's horses. Growing up in Chaska, Minnesota, I was actively involved in 4-H and FFA, showing llamas, market lambs, and horses. Today, I share my life with a variety of animals, including two horses, two dogs, two cats, a 70-gallon aquarium, two bearded dragons, and a corn snake.
Not only do I want to help humans suffering from pain reclaim their enjoyment of life, but my passion for animals has encouraged me to include animal care in my chiropractic practice.
My comprehensive approach has positively impacted many animals I’ve worked with, and I am excited to help you and your animals thrive.

How Chiropractic Care Works:
Chiropractic care is a specialized form of holistic care where trained chiropractors use their hands or small instruments to apply controlled, sudden force to a joint. The primary goal of this adjustment is to enhance spinal motion and improve the overall physical function of the body. While anatomy textbooks often depict the body’s systems—skeletal, muscular, nervous, and digestive—as separate, they are interconnected, and this connection begins with the relationship between your spine and the central nervous system.
The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord. The spinal cord extends from the brain down through the spine, where the peripheral nervous system branches out to the rest of the body. When a spinal joint is misaligned or rotates improperly, it can put pressure on the nerves within the spine, leading to symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness—not only in the spine but also in other parts of the body.
Muscles, ligaments, and soft tissues help stabilize your vertebrae and joints so they don’t interfere with nerves, while the flexible, spongy discs between these joints allow for intended movement. However, this flexibility can also lead to misalignment causing discomfort or dysfunction.
Common causes of misalignment include:
External forces, such as an accident, fall, or injury
Muscle contractions that pull a joint out of place
Poor posture, whether while awake or asleep
Repetitive motion
Genetic deformities
Spinal misalignments are more common—and harmful—than many people realize, and you or your animal might be experiencing one without even knowing it.
Many medical professionals may recommend treatments like physical therapy, over-the-counter medications, or even surgery to alleviate pain. Chiropractors adopt a holistic approach to care, focusing on treating the body as a whole rather than isolating specific systems. By addressing the root cause of issues we are able to improve range of motion, alleviate joint pain, and provide lasting relief by addressing the underlying causes of pain rather than just alleviating the symptoms.
During an adjustment, a chiropractor gently pushes the joints back into their correct position. Importantly, every adjustment is tailored to the individual patient; no two treatments are exactly the same. A chiropractor may apply varying degrees of pressure or adjust patients in slightly different positions, ensuring a personalized approach to care. With consistent treatment, your body will gradually learn to maintain proper alignment, potentially reaching a point where ongoing chiropractic care is no longer necessary.
Pain doesn’t have to rule your life; chiropractic care can help you reclaim your health and well-being.
